Expanding Horizons: Giving Pets a Chance at a Brighter Future
Our ongoing fundraising efforts to secure a dedicated transport vehicle
for rescuing animals from kill shelters have brought us incredibly close
to our goal. With just a final push, we will soon be able to drive them
toward safety and a second chance at life.
At the CFDDA, we believe that every pet deserves a second chance—no matter where they start. Our mission begins with rescuing dogs from overcrowded shelters in Southern California, giving them a fresh start by transporting them to loving shelters in the Pacific Northwest, where new opportunities await them in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana.
In our first year, we aim to complete at least one life-saving transport per month, giving hope and a future to countless animals. By the second year, we dream of expanding this to bi-monthly transports, reaching even more pets and offering them a new beginning.
Each journey we undertake is a long one, covering thousands of miles, and it’s made possible through the unwavering support of compassionate donors and partners like you. Your generosity makes it all possible—every donation helps us rescue and transport these precious lives to safety and hope.

In 2024, over 600,000 animals lost their lives in shelters across the country. We refuse to accept this fate for these innocent souls. The CFDDA Freedom Bus initiative is here to make a change, one transport at a time!
Every day, shelters—especially those in the southern states—are overwhelmed, caring for twice or even three times the number of animals they were built to house. With too many animals and not enough resources, shelters are overcrowded, underfunded, and rescuers are at their breaking points while the risk of euthanasia increases, leaving countless lives in jeopardy. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
The CFDDA Freedom Bus exists to help relieve this crisis. By transporting dogs from overcrowded shelters to rescues and adopters in areas with greater capacity, we’re giving these animals a lifeline. For example, when a shelter meant to house 100 dogs is stretched to 200, we can step in and safely transport 1/4 of those dogs to a partner shelter in another state, giving them the room and care they need.
By working hand-in-hand with trusted rescue organizations, we’re tackling overpopulation head-on, reducing euthanasia rates, and offering more dogs the chance to live a full, happy life in a loving home.
